In order to make sure that the products are defect less and to issue the quality certificate for their release, this division exerts the different stages of inspection with accurate controls according to the standard codes and customers’ requests.
This inspection begins from raw material (plate, coil, coating or welding materials) in the manufacturer’s plant during production, either in Iran or outside, by inspectors of APM Co. or those of third party. When the raw materials are entered to the company the necessary visual and laboratorial evaluations are made according to the technical specifications and standard instructions .In case of no discrepancy the production in the pipe mill is allowed. The inspection is continued during production operations. After each executive stage an inspection station is located that evaluates the quality of operation and in case of verifying the quality lets the pipe leave for the next operational stage.
For this purpose all non-destructive tests (NDT) are conducted on all pipes according to the technical specifications of customer’s request, international standards and agreements.
In the small diameter pipe mills, visual tests on the pipe body and weld bead, like surface defects as well as dimensional inspections and tests like measurement of thickness, length, straightness , ovality are performed. Also “Flatting test” for the measuring of the force required to flatten the pipe around its weld bead, “Hydro test” using water pressure and “Ultrasonic tests” are conducted on the produced pipes.
In the large diameter pipe mill in addition to visual test on the pipe body and weld bead (surface defects), dimensional inspections and tests like measurement of thickness, length, straightness, ovality or flatness is carried out, also hydro test, using water pressure and “Ultrasonic tests” in two phases, “X-ray” and “Magnet particle test” are conducted on the produced pipe as well.
In the coating plants, visual tests on the pipe body and weld bead, roughness test and test of pipe surface illumination after blasting operation, “Holiday” test for hole finding and coating thickness measurement are conducted as well.
In accordance with the order and the technical specifications of customers and international standards, some pipes are chosen randomly in pipe mills and Destructive Tests (D.T) including Heat and Lot tests (orderly to test melt and groups of the plates). After verification of the complete conformity of the production with requested scales by laboratory and quality control organization, release certificate will be issued for the output production.
At the end, after studying all the test results in laboratory system of Integrated Material Tracking System (IMTS) and after receiving release certificate with verification of quality control organization, all the stages of Non Destructive Tests (NDT) are studied by IMTS and if no discrepancy with the standard codes is observed, the final certificate of production is prepared and after the approval of the quality assurance division is issued.
